Polls

Creation

Easily create polls with questions of different types

Creating and sharing polls allows chapter officers to quickly decide chapter votes, get questionnaires answered, and aid in organization!

Setup

To setup your poll, first start by going to the Poll Edit page. From there, you can attach a title & description that will be shown to members.

Questions

There are several different types of questions that can be added to polls.

  • Header: This question does not allow members to provide a response but rather is used to provide context to a set of questions and separate out large polls.
  • Short Answer: This question allows members to provide a single line response.
  • Paragraph: This question allows members to provide a multi-line response.
  • Multiple Choice: This question allows members to select a single response from a list of choices (or a custom response if "other" is turned on).
  • Checkboxes: This question allows members to select multiple responses from a list of choices (and/or a custom response if "other" is turned on).
  • Number: This question allows members to provide a numerical response.
  • Date: This question allows members to provide a date response.
  • Ranked: This question allows members to rank a list of responses. This is most beneficial when members have to vote on a favorite response (or favorite set of responses) from a list.
    • Results are determined by checking every first choice to see if a majority of responses have selected a given response. If not, the second choice is added to the list, and the process is repeated until the first result is selected. From there the process repeats with the remaining options until every option is selected.

Visibility

Poll visibility ensures that your chapter can conduct secure polling in the easiest manner possible.

Chapter officers can set visibility of polls through three fields:

  • Included Statuses (required): Select the list of statuses that members should be included in to be able to view the poll.
  • Excluded Roles: Select the list of roles that members should not be a part of to be able to view the poll.
  • Event: Select the event that members must have signed into in order to be able to view the poll.

Responses

Polls are either set to be closed or open for responses. To set a poll as open for responses, first ensure that you have at least one question and a poll title, then go to the responses tab and then turn on the "Open for responses" switch.

Member Responses

Opening the member responses section from the responses tab allows chapter officers to view who has or has not responded to a poll. If responses are anonymous for the poll, officers can still track who has responded (but can not see what their specific responses were).

Once opened, polls are given a default closing time. Please adjust this to be appropriate for the situation. It is recommended that you don't leave polls open for longer than needed, to prevent confusion.

Settings

From the responses tab of the Edit Poll page, you can modify some settings for your poll.

  • Make responses anonymous: If you would like to prevent chapter officers from viewing member responses, you can turn on this setting. It is recommended to turn this on for sensitive polls and for chapter votes (depending on your chapter's by-laws). If this option is turned on, chapter officers can still see who has submitted a response to the poll, but are prevented from seeing how each member responded.
  • Allow multiple responses: By default, each member (who is able to view a poll) can provide one response. Turning on this feature allows members to submit an unlimited number of responses for the poll.
  • Allow overall results viewing: Turning this setting on allows members to view the overall results to the poll (from the View Poll page). This option is shown after they have responded, and they are not shown how other individual members have voted.
  • Allow personal response viewing: Turning this setting on allows members to view what their previous response(s) were to the poll (from the View Poll page).

Sharing

When polls are open for responses, members who are able to view a given poll can see it from the Home page of Greek Connect. Officers are also able to share polls by sharing a link or sending a push notification to members (only sent to those who can view the poll).

Deletion

Polls can be deleted by pressing on the View Polls page. Deleting a poll is a permanent action, it cannot be done and the poll data will not be recoverable.
