How to Master Your Sorority Points System

Point systems can increase sister engagement, improve campus & national standings, and can help the community. A well managed points system will ensure that sisters can still have a life while engaging with their chapter, all without increasing the workload of officers.

Setup

When setting up your points system, there are a few things to keep in mind. Setting a goal allows for sisters to have a clear understanding of what is expected of them. Whether it's 100 points, 8 hours, or 15 events they need to complete, having a clear goal helps sisters plan ahead so they can meet expectations. If you want more details, check out this tutorial.

Events

When making events that sisters need to attend, Greek Connect lets officers automatically award sisters points for their actions. Setting up the event to have sign in (admin sign in, QR code, or PIN code are recommended) and excuses is the best combination in most cases.

The best systems encourage sisters to attend as much as possible, but allow for missing events with a valid excuse, or a minor amount of absences without valid excuse. If your chapter is requesting that sisters attend each of the 10 chapters of the semester, maybe consider requiring at least 80 points. From there, reward 10 points for each chapter attendance and 8 points for each approved absence. This allows each sister to miss up to 2 chapters without missing the requirement, and any sisters who have an excuse for each chapter will still meet the requirement.

Custom Requests

If your points system allows for sisters to earn points based on their own actions, such as volunteering on their own time, consider enabling custom requests. Once enabled, anytime a sister requests points, officers will be able to see the request, and approve, edit, or deny the request as necessary.
